Week of May 22 to May 28

WEDNESDAY
8:00 AM SLT
SNAPPING TO THE WORLD GRID
Instructor: Jayden Firehawk
Location: Theatre on Hope 5

Ever wonder how great builders get their prims so perfectly aligned? In this class, students will learn the fundamental building trick of Snapping to the World Grid, which enables quick and precise prim placement, sizing, and alignment as you build. This skill is a prerequisite for most of the other classes in the Building Tricks Series.

PREREQUISITES: This is a Beginner Level 2 class, meaning that you should have basic building skills, including the ability to rez and edit prims, and apply and adjust textures.

It is not necessary to have attended any of the other classes to attend this one. The Building Tricks classes are numbered for convenience but are freestanding, meaning that they can be taken in any order, though it is highly recommended that the Building Tricks #1: Snapping to the World Grid class be taken first. The rest of the classes do not have to be taken in any particular sequence.

THURSDAY
8:00 AM SLT
BUILDING TRICKS #4: EASY TEXTURE ALIGNMENT
Instructor: Jayden Firehawk
Location: Theatre on Hope 5

It is not necessary to have attended any of the other classes to attend this one

PREREQUISITES: This is a Beginner 2 Level class, meaning that you should have the ability to rez and edit prims, and apply and adjust textures.

DESCRIPTION: Texture matching and alignment is not an easy task. In fact, it can be the most difficult part of completing a build. Fortunately, there are tools and techniques to help make texture alignment simple and fast. This class covers how to use a tool called a Texture Alignment Lattice, and how to use Planar Mapping. Texture alignment made easy!

Length: 90 minutes.
Format: Class is in text

FRIDAY
8:00 AM SLT
BUILDING TRICKS #5: USING A ROTATION PRIM
Instructor: Jayden Firehawk
Location: Theatre on Hope 5

In this class, students will learn to use a “rotation prim” to build an octagon roof such as for a gazebo. Rotation prims can also be used to build other architectural elements such as bay windows, a circle of columns, or a hexagon floor, or for tasks like setting out chairs in a semicircular arrangement in an auditorium.

PREREQUISITES: This is an Intermediate Level class, meaning that you should have basic building skills, including the ability to edit and link prims, and apply and adjust textures. Knowledge of how to snap prims to the World Grid is preferred but not absolutely required.

NOTE: The classes are numbered for convenience but are freestanding, meaning that they can be taken in any order, though it is highly recommended that the Building Tricks #1: Snapping to the World Grid class be taken first. The rest of the classes do not have to be taken in any particular sequence. Descriptions of the classes are listed below.
